There was a time in the late-1960s when noted automotive journalist Karl Ludvigsen made the claim that the W43 Olds 455 was “perhaps the most promising and impressive big-bore V8 engines ever groomed for street and track use by any manufacturer.”

This must have been for "Your Father`s Oldsmobile". Pretty wild stuff for Oldsmobile at the time. Does RTanner have one hid out somewhere?
Every thing is going too fast and not fast enough. . Warren Oats a.k.a.."GTO" Two lane Blacktop..

It was built for NASCAR from what I remember to compete with fords 427 cammer motor and the hemi .. But NASCAR were already to kill the cammer and the hemi in NASCAR so Olds never built the engine ..In 71 Mopar hemi was banned from NASCAR so they used a 355 small block mopar ( 340 really ) and it still went 200 MPH so NASCAR banned the Super Bird and Talladega ..No more big wings and pointed noses .. Nascar was trying to even the playing field and keep the guys under 200 MPH ... Well I guess they did because all the cars today look the same ..
